A Message From the Executive Director

Sharon Parker was appointed as Executive Director and CEO of the South Central Alabama Regional Housing Authority (SCARHA) in August 2021. Sharon has over seventeen years of experience administering federal programs sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and a total of twenty-seven years altogether. She is a native of Coffee County, Alabama and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University.

Sharon's goal is to enhance affordable housing options for families that are in need of safe and descent housing. Sharon's primary responsibilities as Executive Director/CEO include developing and implementing high-level strategies, making major organizational decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the organization, and acting as the main point of communication between the Board of Commissioners and the SCARHA. The Executive Director/CEO handles the daily operations to include the oversight of the following departments and/or activities:

• Project Based Voucher (formerly Public Housing)
• Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) (formerly known as Section 8)
• Accounting Department
• Human Resources
• Procurement and Compliance
