South Central Alabama Regional Housing Authority, established in October 1970, provides 1,474 total units of Housing. South Central Regional Housing Authority manages 282 Project Based Voucher units & manages 897 Section 8 Vouchers for area Landlords. Fort Deposit Housing Authority manages 50 units of Project Based Voucher (formerly public housing). Midland City Housing Authority manages 46 units of Project Based Voucher (formerly public housing) and 50 Section 8 Vouchers for area Landlords. Union Springs Housing Authority manages 149 units of Project Based Voucher (formerly public housing).
SCARHA accommodates a variety of housing programs including Project Based Voucher (formerly public housing) and HCV (Section 8). SCARHA serves Pike, Crenshaw, Lowndes, Macon and Bullock Counties. SCARHA is governed by a 5-member Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners consists of a representative from each of the five counties of operation.
